01/04/2007 - Inter-Squadron 5-a-side Football 304 (Hastings) Squadron entered this 5-a-side football competition with six of its Cadets; a male team and a single female Cadet. The male team competed extremely well against some tough Squadrons, including 225 (Brighton) Squadron and 2530 (Uckfield) Squadron. Of the four games that were played, two were won and two were lost. Some great goals were scored by I/FS Connolly, SGT Roberts and CPL May. The final position in the 'league table' is awaiting confirmation. Very well done to the team and especially to CPL May and CPL Hill who have been selected to represent Sussex Wing at the Inter-Wing competition later this month. CPL Jeffrey joined a mixed team, mainly comprising of 19F (Crawley) Squadron. She played very well in goal, saving some superb shots. Overall, this team came second place and were awarded silver medals for their achievements. Well done. |

01/12/2006 - 'Mucky Fun' Night On December 1st 2006, the Cadets at 304 (Hastings) Squadron took part in 'Mucky Fun', a night full of different activities and events involving a snow machine, eggs, tomatoes, soup, water and other 'mucky' things. The evening was run as a competition between four flights who were awarded points depending on their success at each event. In one of the events, Cadets had to bite balloons, which were filled with various things such as soup and water, until they burst. In another, they were to balance a plastic container full of baked beans on their head, as they walked across the room. As the finale, teams competed in a relay race whereby they ran to a seat and burst whatever would be on it. Some seats had balloons filled with water and flour on it, others had tomatoes or eggs. The Cadets of the winning flight were awarded prizes and so too were CDT McCarthy and CDT Gomes who excelled themselves in a particular event. |

23-24/09/2006 - Wing Field Weekend Over the duration of the two days, Squadrons within Sussex Wing competed against each other in many different disciplines. SGT Grief's model of the Eurofighter Typhoon qualified for the Regional Aircraft Modelling competition and CDT Harrison also achieved well with his model, coming second in his age category. This year, we came fifth in the Drill Competition, competing against seventeen other Squadrons from our Wing. The points from all events were added together and 304 (Hastings) Squadron came third overall out of all the Squadrons that attended. Cadets also had the opportunity to take part in other non-competitive activities such as the abseil tower, obstacle course, initiative exercises and adventure training exercises e.g. "Trigger Hill" and "Raft Building". |

14-22/07/2006 - Nijmegen 2006 CDT McCarthy and CDT Kubisa formed part of the Sussex Wing Military Team in this years Nijmegen march in Holland. There were 10 Sussex Wing Cadets who qualified into this years Military Team and a number of Cadets took part in the Expedition Team, including CDT Jones from 304 (Hastings) Squadron. The march is 100 miles long and is to be completed within 4 days. Unfortunately, the event had to be cancelled at the end of the first day as the temperature was exceeding 40°C, making it unsafe to be walking such vast distances. The team did, however, complete a distance of 25 miles in the first day, a great achievement in such temperatures. |
